Programme Format

Fully Online — all 8 weeks of daily classes are delivered live via video link, open to participants anywhere in the world. Special In-Person Events are held in Lagos, Abuja, and Jos at orientation (Week 1), a mid-programme workshop (Week 4), and the graduation ceremony (Week 8). In-person attendance is optional but strongly encouraged for participants in Nigeria.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can secondary school students (SS1 / 9th grade and up) join?
Yes — secondary school students from SS1 (9th grade) and above are warmly welcomed. Student-teachers follow the same 8-week curriculum as adult participants and receive the same STEM Educator Certificate on completion. This is an excellent opportunity for students who love mathematics and want to develop leadership and teaching skills. Student-teachers are often placed as peer tutors and junior instructors in STEM Clubs at their own schools after completing the programme. Parents are encouraged to enrol alongside their children.
Do I need a teaching qualification to enrol?
No. This programme is open to anyone with a passion for STEM education — classroom teachers, university students, parents, STEM professionals, and community leaders. A teaching degree is not required. What matters is your commitment to the 8-week programme and your desire to help students learn.
What do I need to attend the live classes?
A laptop or tablet with a stable internet connection and a working camera and microphone. Classes are held on a video conferencing platform — the link is sent to you on registration. Participants in Nigeria typically use a 4G mobile data connection or Wi-Fi.
What if I miss a class?
All sessions are recorded and made available to enrolled participants within 24 hours. We recommend attending live whenever possible, as the Q&A and group discussion are a key part of the learning experience. Participants who miss more than 3 sessions may be asked to complete make-up assignments.
Is the certificate recognised by schools and employers?
The STEM Educator Certificate is issued by the Learning Institute for Excellence and STEM Clubs Across Africa. It is recognised within our network of partner schools across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Angola. We are working toward formal accreditation with Nigerian educational bodies. The certificate is also a strong addition to any professional CV or teaching portfolio.
Can I enrol my whole school staff?
Yes — group enrolment is available for schools and organisations with 3 or more participants at ₦35,000 per person. Schools with 10 or more participants can request a dedicated cohort with a customised schedule. Contact Amos@learningforexcellence.com for group pricing and partnership details.
How do I pay if I am in the US or internationally?
International participants pay $75 USD per cohort. Payment details are provided after you submit the registration form. We accept card payments, PayPal, and bank transfer. Scholarships are available for participants who demonstrate financial need — indicate this in the notes field of the registration form.
What is the pathway to becoming a paid instructor?
Top graduates from each cohort are invited to apply for paid instructor and mentor roles within the STEM Clubs Across Africa network. Roles include: teaching in the August AI Training programme, running STEM Clubs at partner schools, and serving as a diaspora online mentor. Instructor compensation is discussed during the final week of the programme.
